Planned Giving

The Sanford Schools Legacy Foundation is one of 2,000 funds professionally managed by the nonprofit Maine Community Foundation

Planned Giving gifts may be made directly through the Maine Community Foundation. The MCF will work with each donor to set up their restricted gift as per the donor’s request for the benefit of the Sanford School system. This investment earns interest, so it’s the gift that keeps on giving, and the growth of this pre-established fund will assure that the students of the Sanford Schools continue to benefit long into the future.

Most contributions qualify as charitable deductions through federal and state income taxes. As with all financial considerations, discuss potential tax advantages and other aspects of giving with financial experts.

There are three ways to plan your donations to the Sanford Schools Legacy Foundation:

Unrestricted Planned Giving Gifts

When a gift is unrestricted, the Foundation enjoys maximum flexibility in its funding for school programs.  Unrestricted planned giving gifts can be used at the discretion of the School to meet current, changing or urgent capital school needs.

With restricted gifts, donors designate how and where they would like their gift to be used by the School System.  Donors may designate a particular school or program such as athletics, performing arts, campus maintenance and beautification or specific school programming.

Matching Gifts

Corporate matching gift programs allow employees to effectively double or triple their gifts to the Legacy Foundation. Check with your Human Resources Department for more information.
